Billing questions
What counts as a transaction?
One successful API response. Failed requests, 4xx validation errors and rate-limited calls are not billed. Vector and raster tiles are counted per tile served, matrix calls per request rather than per cell.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. The Free and Growth plans are self-serve and cancellable in the console. Committed-use discounts exist on Scale and Enterprise but are optional.
How is overage handled?
There is no overage penalty rate. Once the free allowance is used, requests price at the ladder rate for the volume step they fall in. You can set a hard spend cap that returns 429 instead of billing further.
Which currencies do you invoice in?
USD and EUR. The rate card is maintained in USD; EUR is converted at the ECB reference rate on the first business day of the month and fixed for that month.
Do unused free requests roll over?
No, and neither do HERE's. The allowance resets on the first of the month in UTC.
